The Organ Vesper Series had its birth in the dedicatory concert of the Hutching-McFarland-Beaudry organ on September 25, 1988. At that time a series of programs featuring the organ in a number of roles was planned. No ongoing series of concerts was anticipated. The first program of chamber music in what was to become the Organ Vesper Series was played by a group of Omaha musicians named for the occasion, The Organ+Plus Chamber Players. This group included Kenneth Peeler, Mary and Craig Bircher, Robert Jenkins, Margaret Lim and Dana Sloan.

From this inauspicious beginning, The Organ Vesper Series has expanded over its 22 season history to include nearly 175 concerts performed by nearly 200 named performers and many ensembles, both large and small. The variety of music performed since 1988 is nothing short of astounding and perhaps unequaled in this area. In September 2011, the series changed it name to VESPER CONCERTS to better describe its mission as a series of chamber music concerts.

The series has provided and as VESPER CONCERTS will continue to provide a venue for many deserving, unsung area musicians as well performers of national and international reputation. The past provides the foundation for a bright and exciting future. We hope you will be a part of that future.
